HP, Dell, and Lenovo seem to increasingly focus more and more on high-end laptops that compete with Apple laptops regarding specifications as well as power. Apple has been alone in the top segment of the laptop market for years, and it’s just good to see that more and more serious competitors are coming into this part. Hp Spectre x360 is one of the laptops that is now focusing on high-end laptops.

HP Spectre x360 specifications

HP Spectre x360 is available in two configurations. The differences between the different configurations are quite large. The more expensive version has a Quad HD screen, an Intel Core-i7 Processor and a 512GB SSD hard drive. The cheaper version should be done with an HD display, an Intel Core-i5 Processor and a 128GB SSD drive.

Hardware and Design

This is a hybrid laptop that follows the design choices and features that Lenovo introduced with their Yoga line. This laptop has an extremely flexible hinge so that the screen can be fully folded backward so as to be used as a tablet. While folding back the screen, other positions are also useful, positions that are of discernible applicability.

HP Spectre x360 – Hardware and Design

In this case, HP is distinguished by choice of materials; The HP Spectre x360 features a beautiful aluminum housing. The top and bottom are brushed while the sides are polished for a nice shiny effect. The aluminum cuts are nicely mixed by the black edges (bezels) around the 13.3-inch IPS panel. On the other hand, this model for those looking for a mobile device is relatively big and heavy.

HP Spectre x360 – Hardware and Design

The keyboard is a full size and features. As you can expect from a high-end computer from this category, the keyboard is provided with backlighting. The HP Spectre x360 also has a remarkably large (full) mouse plane; this trackpad is one of the best we ever used on a Windows machine. Of course, there is support for the various Windows related swipes and movements, but this provides a nice user experience.

HP Spectre x360 – Hardware and Design

The HP Spectre x360 is available in different size, and one of the components that are differentiated is the screen. Both variants have an IPS panel, so you can expect excellent color rendering, viewing angles and contrast. However, it is the resolution where the difference is made; 1920 x 1080 vs. 2560 x 1440 pixels. With the higher pixel density, you have even sharper texts, and you can expect extra details in photos without having to zoom in.

HP Spectre x360 Display

The HP Spectre x360 that we have has the high-resolution screen, which translates into one of the best screens in window laptop. Texts are extremely sharp, and also photo and video look great on the HP Spectre x360. We have a lot to say about the way colors are displayed, and the screen brightness deserves a plume. Again, the screen on this HP Spectre x360 is impressively good. Additionally, the screen also comes with a touchscreen, which makes it possible to use it in multiple positions (also as a tablet).

HP Spectre x360 Connectivity

A 13-inch laptop is still a form factor that provides space for the necessary connections and ports. The HP Spectre x360 is no exception. The convertible is equipped with:

  • 3 times full-size USB 3.0, HMDI Mini display port, SD card reader (full) 3.5mm audio on / off
  • In the area of wireless connectivity, the HP Spectre x360 is also reasonably well-equipped: Dual Band WiFi a/ b/g/n/AC. Bluetooth 4.0 Miracast support.

Just like space for ports and connections, the HP Spectre x360 also offers room for speakers, even though they’ve lost the battle between practical applicability and design. The speaker openings are processed at the bottom of the HP Spectre x360, so the sound is not sent directly to the user, even though there is enough “leakage” of sound found on the keyboard. But the music is still good generally.

The HP Spectre  x360 is only equipped with a webcam, and that is an acceptable choice for us.  For video calls, the laptop is ideal, and the HP 1080P (Full-HD) camera is just a great thing.

Battery life

The more expensive model has had the advantage. However, the benefits of more storage space, processor power, and high-resolution display come with a downside. It is especially the more powerful processor and displays that are responsible for the cheaper version of the HP Spectre x360 longer for a single battery charge. According to HP, even over 12 hours, it can work with the 1080P version of the laptop, the Quad HD version will take an hour or 2-3 less long. Because we only had the more luxurious version we can all get the last-mentioned confirmations.

The HP Spectre x360 runs on the full version of Windows 10 Home. There are not many details about how to install Windows on this system. HP has worked with Microsoft to optimize well and, as far as we can estimate, that has been a success, or has It did not look at all yield any disadvantages.

HP Spectre x360 Software

One of the results of the collaboration is that They have a clean installation here, without too many unnecessary additions from HP. This HP laptop also comes with a valid Office 365 license for a year, and some Windows Essentials are also installed (MovieMaker, Photo Gallery).

HP Spectre x360 Software

For business users, it is good to know that the HP Spectre 13 x360 is equipped with a TMP module so things like manageability and security are all right.

HP Spectre x360 Software

In addition to a good brew quality, there is, of course, the beautiful screen that is combined with more than enough processing power, working memory and fast storage memory (SSD). You can find a lot of the “new” Windows, but it’s quick and smooth nowadays; Also on less than super fast hardware. In te case of the high-end parts, and so the computer is flying. The Intel HD Graphic Chip is perhaps the only limitation that strikes the head when we look at the extreme graphic performance like gaming and high-end 3D design. But for anyone who would be a deal breaker, a computer of this category is by no means an option, and so we give this HP Spectre x360 graphically, in perspective, more than enough.

This HP Spectre x360 is probably the best Windows laptop on the market, with all the modern features that make it happy for future use. Especially when you go for the powerful Quad HD resolution model, you are baked for at least three years. The HP Spectre x360 has a handy hinge and touch screen so you can also benefit from the trend in mobile computing in that area. Even though we did not have a cheaper model, it seems to us to be a bothering price-quality ratio, with the fact that 128GB of storage is just the low side. Depending on the budget, both versions are simply safe recommendations and have placed the bar in this category higher than ever before
