Founded in 2008 by Andrew Michael, Livedrive is an online cloud backup and sync storage that provides users with unlimited backup space and more than 2000 GB of sync storage. It allows users to access their data from their mobile phones and tablets. Presently, it has iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Chrome OS apps.

Three months after its founding date, the company was offered and turned down a 100 million Euros buyout, stating that they intended to build the company.

Now, when you are searching for an online backup service, the amount of storage space must be considered in line with the features that the service offers.

On Livedrive, you don’t ever have to worry about the amount of storage space your videos, songs, and photos are taking up because Livedrive offers an unlimited amount of storage space coupled with amazing features.

LiveDrive Review on Features

Livedrive is way ahead of competition based on the amount of storage and synching spaces they offer. The downside to this is that you are required to sign up for the Briefcase plan or the Pro Suite plan to be able to take advantage of the syncing feature of the service.

“Backup” is when you copy your photos, songs, and videos to Livedrive’s online storage servers. “Synching” on the other hand is when you copy all your songs, photos and videos to all your registered computers and devices and keep them in sync.

When synching, the “Briefcase” feature of Livedrive is used to sync all your photos, videos, and songs between your handheld devices, Windows or even Mac. Once you drag and drop your photo, video or song on the briefcase, they all start to sync across all your devices.

On Livedrive, it is possible to choose which files you want to backup by using Livedrive’s desktop application. You can also go to the settings and set Livedrive to continuously backup or you can schedule the backup times yourself.

You can listen to your music and watch videos on your phone from anywhere using Livedrive. With Livedrive’s web interface, you can view your photos, songs, and videos from anywhere in the world.

It is possible to edit your Microsoft files by making use of Livedrive’s web interface. All you have to do is go to your files and click on the one you want to edit right from your browser. This edit feature is only available when you sign up for either the Briefcase plan or the Pro Suite plan.

Ease to use

Livedrive is very easy to install and coupled with that, it has a setup wizard that helps you through the backup settings and helps you choose the files you want to backup. The layout of Livedrive’s interface though is more complex than the online backup software. It is impossible to view all the settings and files from the window of the main program.

The web interface though is easier to navigate. The fact that Livedrive is capable of editing documents and photos from the web interface is definitely a plus too because it will come in handy if say, for instance, your computer crashed and you have a deadline to meet. All you need to do is to log in to your online account, complete the editing and then restore your computer when you’re done.

Scheduling backup

Similar to some other services. LiveDrive offers several Scheduling options. It is set up to scan your system every hour. If your data changes constantly, the backup directory changes frequently (read: add a continuous stream of files). You should select “real-time backup” to ensure that batch changes The News was discovered immediately.

The other special thing is that you can track the uploads in real time to see where Livedrive is in the process.

Speed

It’s easy to overlook the speed of Livedrive’s service when you consider the amount of storage space they offer, but the speed definitely deserves a mention. Livedrive is so fast that you can comfortably upload 30 GB on a daily basis.

Security

Files on Livedrive are encrypted with military-grade 256-bit AES algorithm which is an industry standard for encryption.  Although the files are encrypted, LiveDrive still controls the encryption keys. And they have the power to decrypt your files. You can’t set a private encryption key.

Pricing

Livedrive has one of the most customer-friendly storage spaces and when it comes to pricing, they offer you substantial discounts if you sign up for a 1-year subscription. If your aim is to save up your videos, photos, and songs for a long time, it is advisable that you sign up for the one-year subscription.

They have two other plans: the Briefcase plan, and the Pro suite plan. Both of these plans allow you to sync all your devices and allow you to backup to their online cloud storage. The downside to that while the backup is unlimited, it only allows you to backup 1 PC or Mac.

LiveDrive Pricing

If you decide to add additional backup computers to the available plans, you are allowed to pay just $1.45 per month.

LiveDrive Trial

However, what customers do not like is the trial version is too short (only 14 days) and they request to provide credit card information.
